a.k.a Nkossi Konda is what we could call a compulsive consumer of music. This multi award winning artist, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo is a highly inspired author, composer, songwriter, performer, arranger and producer. This true musical explorer does not hesitate to innovate when his inspiration carries him away towards hitherto to unknown territories.

Nkossi, which means “Lion” in Kikongo (a Language from Central Africa), spent more than 29 years in the urban jungle of New York. Even though he has been residing in Immenstadt/ Bavaria ( located in Southern Germany) for the past 4 years, he is still very much a member of this new and extremely talented generation of artists who crave for beautiful musical adventures and are making an impression in the American metropolis.

His insatiable musical curiosity and musical curiosity led him to mix various musical genres, becoming thus an active performer of “Culture Pop” music style. His music is a perfect symbiosis of the sounds springing out from his African roots fused with rhythms and melodies of various and remote global origins.

In the Spring of 1999, Nkossi was the first artist signed by Harry Belafonte for his brand new label (Niger Records/ Palm Pictures) in collaboration with Chris Blackwell (Founder of Island Records).

Nkossi is well aware of the power of music and his desire to communicate through it transcends borders. He belongs to this group of artists who understand that music is on of the most wonderful ways to convey ideas, feelings and passions. Music overwhelms him, devours him to the point where he manages to dominate it, shape it and extrapolate it in such a way that we can perceive it as a universal language.
It is refreshing to hear Nkossi taking the music in an entirely new direction. First of all, he is an excellent lyricist particularly in many songs focusing on the theme of love. We must applaud his efforts. If you like your music original with lots of soul and Funk in a mix somewhat hard to define, then this is an album you will certainly enjoy…
