about us

Culture Taxi Records Inc. was founded in 2007 by three music enthusiasts from the Caribbean Islands, Africa and Europe.

The concept of our business is unique in the music marketplace. We understand ethnic music and how it is best presented. As a result, we deliver a high quality product which is totally authentic. Our edge over our competitors is the creation and production of better quality products which are consistent with the demands of the industry. Our attention to detail, as well as our experience and intuition within the marketplace, sets us apart from the competition. CTR’s primary purpose is to feature new artists and to present new and stimulating sounds from our twenty-first century Global Village.

The company is based in Orlando, Florida (US) and Berlin (Germany)

Alain Nkossi Konda

is a very gifted singer/songwriter originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. At a young age, he went to the US with his diplomat father who was then working for the United Nations Development Program.

He spent the following twenty-nine years in the urban jungle of New York. Nkossi earned himself a reputation as a hard working musician/producer within the New York Afro-pop community.
A resident of Immenstadt, Bavaria, southern Germany, he is very much a leading member of a new and talented generation of artists who crave beautiful musical adventures while leaving deep footprints on American and European culture.

He is a respected innovator who effortlessly combines his African musical heritage with his new American homeland, creating what he calls ‘tri-cultural pop’. His creation is a combination of funk, soukous and reggae, based on catchy material sung in French, English and Lingala. Nkossi has kept faith with his identity while developing a style and sound with global appeal – an original twenty-first century Afro-pop sound.

In 1999, Nkossi became the first artist to be signed by Harry Belafonte for his new label Niger Records/Palm Pictures in collaboration with Island Records founder Chris Blackwell.

During the spring of 2001, Nkossi and his associate Jim Savitt set up their own production company Afrikool. Their objective is to provide the necessary environment to facilitate cultural exchange between African artists and their western counterparts.

Glen Barclay

founder of the Orlando-based Caribbean band ‘Island Breeze’ and Island Breeze Music, a full-service entertainment talent agency.

Gerhard Mueller

an economist by profession, is passionate about music. For over 20 years, he has conducted detailed research in the field of world music. He has discovered many fascinating connections between indigenous people, lands and cultures which inevitably lead him to ask "is the world a big village?"

On Berlin’s Radio Multikulti, Gerhard broadcasts about the musical connections between Africa and the wider world. His broadcasts open the way to a better understanding of the cultures and civilizations which make up our global society.

For the last four years Gerhard has collaborated with Romanian public radio. Every two weeks he hosts ‘Latino Sounds’ presenting Latin music, a show which, based on the audience reaction, is extremely successful.
